From routine childhood immunisations to everyday illnesses, we look after your child's health at every stage — with calm, reassuring care for them and for you.
Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting your child against serious diseases. The risks from these diseases are far greater than the risk of any minor side effect from the vaccine. Routine childhood immunisations are free of charge at your GP under the national programme, and are given here at the clinic by our practice nurse.
The vaccines below are offered to children born on or after 1 October 2024, following the HSE's Primary Childhood Immunisation Schedule.
| Age | Vaccines given | Given as |
|---|---|---|
| 2 months Visit 1 | 6 in 1, PCV, MenB, Rotavirus | 3 injections + oral drops |
| 4 months Visit 2 | 6 in 1, MenB, Rotavirus | 2 injections + oral drops |
| 6 months Visit 3 | 6 in 1, PCV | 2 injections |
| 12 months Visit 4 | MMR, MenB, Chickenpox | 3 injections |
| 13 months Visit 5 | 6 in 1, MenC, PCV | 3 injections |
The rotavirus vaccine (oral drops) cannot be given on or after 8 months of age. You'll need paracetamol on hand for your baby's 2- and 4-month visits.
A further booster (4 in 1 and MMR) is given at 4–5 years of age through the HSE schools immunisation programme, not at the GP. Schedules are updated by the HSE from time to time — always check the current schedule at immunisation.ie, or just ask us at your next visit.
After their vaccines, your child may have a sore arm or leg, mild flu-like symptoms, or a raised temperature for a day or two. This is normal and usually settles quickly. Keep them comfortable with plenty of fluids, and you can give the correct dose of paracetamol or ibuprofen for their age if needed.
We're here for the whole of your child's health — not only their immunisations. Bring them to us for the everyday things too.
Coughs, colds, ear infections, tummy bugs, rashes and fevers — seen by a GP who can reassure you or treat when needed.
Not sure if it's something to worry about? A short consultation can give you peace of mind and clear next steps.
Travelling as a family? We provide travel health advice and vaccinations for children too.
Travel Vaccinations →Unless there's a valid medical reason, we advise that all children receive the complete course of recommended immunisations — an unimmunised child is at risk themselves and can also pass these diseases to others.
Yes — the routine childhood immunisations are free of charge at your GP under the national HSE programme.
It's never too late to catch up. The vaccines already given still protect your child, and we'll help you get back on track — just call us to arrange a visit.
The 4-in-1 and MMR boosters at 4–5 years are given through the HSE schools immunisation programme rather than at the GP.
